Karachi, Jan. 26 (TNS): Just a day after a joint investigation team (JIT) was constituted to investigate the killing of Intizar Ahmed, the main witness in the case Madiha Kayani on Friday recorded her statement before probe team.
The 19-year-old was shot dead in Defence Housing Authority of Karachi on January 13.
The JIT was formed on Thursday with CTD SSP Pervez Chandio as its head. The JIT team included representatives of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, Special Branch, Sindh Rangers and Karachi police.
DIG Farooqi was appointed as the new investigation officer by Sindh Inspector-General of Police Allah Dino Khawaja while transferring the case from District South Investigations SP Farooq Awan following the demand by the victim’s family.
The decision to form a JIT was made after controversy arose in the case and the family accused former Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Chief SSP Muquddus Haider of being involved in the murder.
