Pakistan strongly condemns dastardly terrorist attack in Kabul

ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (TNS): Pakistan has strongly condemned the dastardly terrorist attack in Kabul today (Saturday).

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad today, Pakistan express deep grief and sorrow at the loss of precious human lives in this terrorist attack in which a number of people have also been reportedly injured.

It said the government and the people of Pakistan convey solidarity and support with the Government and people of Afghanistan at this brutal terrorist attack. It said Pakistan reiterates its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. No cause or ends justify acts of terrorism against innocent people.

Foreign Office statement emphasized the need for concerted efforts and effective cooperation among the states to eradicate the scourge of terrorism.

Earlier, a suicide bombing has killed at least 95 people and injured 158 others in the centre of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, officials say.Attackers drove an ambulance laden with explosives past a police checkpoint into a street that was only open to government workers.

It happened near the old interior ministry building, which is close to the offices of the European Union and the High Peace Council.

The Taliban have said they carried out the attack. There are reports an ambulance was used to hide the bomb.

According to Tolo News, huge explosion rocked Kabul City at about 1:00pm on Saturday afternoon.
