Kashmir Solidarity Day being observed today

ISLAMABAD Feb 05 (TNS): The nation is observing Kashmir solidarity day today with a pledge to seek a solution to Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Nation-wide one minute silence was observed at 10.00 a.m. to honour Kashmiri martyrs.

President Mamnoon Hussain will address the main ceremony of the Kashmir Solidarity Day in Islamabad.

Besides the leadership of Hurriyat Conference, prominent political and social figures as well as the intellectuals would address the ceremony that would be covered live by national media.

Different documentaries encompassing the decades-old Kashmir struggle would also be shown.

In his message, Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed his gratitude to the people and   government of Pakistan for their unflinching support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the right to self-determination.

He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the Hurriyat appreciate the government of Pakistan and its leadership who has always extended all possible support to our political movement for the resolution of Kashmir dispute.

The Mirwaiz said, the people of Kashmir have been battling hardships and oppression and they are being targeted by bullets and pellets.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under house arrest by puppet authorities.
