Islamabad, Feb. 7 (TNS): Polling for the four Senate seats for Federally Administered Tribal Areas will be held on third of the next month, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said in a statement here on Tuesday.
According to the ECP, nomination papers for the Senate election for FATA can be filed by Monday.
Members of the National Assembly from FATA will elect the senators for their area.
Meanwhile, the ECP has appointed Justice Aamer Farooq of Islamabad High Court as tribunal for Islamabad and FATA, Justice Munib Akhtar of Sindh High Court for Sindh, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan of Lahore High Court for Punjab, Justice Musarrat Hilali of Peshawar High Court for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Justice Ejaz Swati of Balochistan High Court for Balochistan for disposal of appeals against decisions of the returning officers concerned regarding rejection or acceptance of the nomination papers of candidates for of Senate Elections 2018.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four candidates filed nomination papers today for Senate elections.
Faisal Sakhi Butt and Behramand of PPP (P) filed nomination papers on General Seats.
Naeema Kishwar Khan of JUI(f) filed nomination papers for women seat while Muhammad Azam Khan Swati of PTI submitted papers for technocrat’s seat.
Meanwhile, the process of receiving nomination papers by the candidates for the senate forthcoming elections continued on the fourth consecutive day today also.
Provincial Election Commissioner Balochistan, Muhammad Naeem Majeed Jaffar told Radio Pakistan Quetta that eleven candidates received sixteen nomination papers on Tuesday.
He said seventy six candidates have so far received 128 nomination papers from the office of election Commission in Quetta.
