ISLAMABAD Feb 07 (TNS): Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif says Pakistan looks forward to forging further stronger political and economic relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States.
He was talking to Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Rashid Alimov in Islamabad. It was the first visit of SCO Secretary General after Pakistan’s full membership of the organization.
The foreign minister said the membership created an opportunity for connectivity of critical overland routes for trade and energy in the SCO region.
Khawaja Asif said the integration of CPEC with the six SCO land routes holds enormous potential for mutually beneficial regional cooperation.
They also discussed wide ranging issues of mutual interest including connectivity, security and development, culture, energy and transport during the meeting.
The Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s enormous contributions and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism said that SCO can learn from its successful experience in combating terrorism, narcotics and drugs.
