Three committees constituted to promote community policing: IGP Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Feb 08 (TNS): Islamabad police have constituted three committees to promote community policing and resolve the public grievances on immediate basis.

It was told by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri while presiding over a meeting at Central Police Office with representatives of Christian Community. The meeting was attended among others by Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi, DSP (Security) Hakim Khan and MNA Aasiya Nasir.

The IGP said that purpose of these committees is to immediately resolve the public complaints and bridge the gap between police and public. He said that one committee has been constituted at level of Central Police Office, other at SSP level office and third at level of police stations.

Anyone can contact to these committees which have been assigned responsibility to resolve the complaints at earliest, he added.

In addition, the IGP said that a committee has been constituted to ensure protection to the marginalized segment of society which includes representatives from minority community and other stakeholders.

Such committees will be constituted in near future at level of each police station, the IGP maintained.

MNA Aasiya Nasir appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police for community policing and said that she is also member of human rights committee. He gave suggestions to improve relationship between police and public.

The IGP assured full cooperation to the minority representative and said that awareness campaign would be launched with mutual cooperation as how to contact such committees in case of violation of human rights.

He directed SSP (Operations) to maintain complete coordination with representatives of marginalized segments of society and ensure protection of their human rights.
