ISLAMABAD Feb 09 (TNS): The Foreign Office on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s armed forces are fully capable of responding to any Indian aggression.
Speaking at a weekly news briefing in the federal capital, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav was a clear evidence that India was meddling in the internal affairs of the country.
He said the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned today to the Foreign Office to lodge a protest over frequent breaches of the ceasefire agreement by India.
Indian forces violated the ceasefire on more than 1900 occasions last year while ceasefire violations in 2018 figured at 200, he added.
Dr Faisal said Pakistan had repeatedly asked India to provide information about Jadhav since January 2017, but all in vain.
Commenting on the murder of a Chinese national, he said Pakistan condemned the killing. It would ensure safety of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, he added.
He attached great importance to talks with Kabul to root out differences between the two neighboring countries. Dialogue had an important role to play in addressing reservations, he said.
Dr Faisal said the issues of repatriation of Afghan refugees and cross-border terrorist attacks would come under discussion at the meeting of Pakistan and Afghanistan joint working group in Islamabad.
Without Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace initiatives, peace and stability couldn’t return to the war-torn country, he declared.
