ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (TNS): National Accountability bureau (NAB) has rejects Punjab Gov’t clarification about the accusation of the prior that some departments of the Punjab government are not cooperating with the accountability watchdog which is conducting an inquiry of 56 public limited companies of Punjab.
NAB chief Iqbal on Thursday had complained that the departments of the Punjab government were not cooperating with the anti-graft watchdog, and warned that such an attitude would not be tolerated in the future.
On the other hand spokesperson of the Punjab government on Friday strongly refuted the allegations by (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal by saying that there is no truth in the statement as all the departments of the government are fully cooperating with the accountability bureau.
He maintained that a high-profile official such as the NAB chief should avoid giving such statements against the government whose hallmarks are transparency and merit, on public platforms.
“If he or the bureau has had any complaints towards any of the provincial departments, he should have had communicated to the government on an official level for its redressal,” concluded the spokesperson.
NAB Spokesman in reaction has said that NAB’ Lahore Bureau has written four letters to Punjab Gov’t for provision of record beside many verbal requests to Punjab Gov’t but it didn’t come up with any response.
By not complying with the directives NAB on January 23, 2018 press release has shown displeasure over the Gov’t and asked Chief Secretary to provide required record. Says Spokesman and added that On Feb 8, 2018 Chairman NAB took notice of the noncompliance of Punjab Gov’t and asked its bureaucracy to provide record to NAB and abide by laws as noncompliance is against the law and comes under hampering with inquiry of NAB law.
The clarification of Punjab Gov’t is therefore not based on facts.
