NAB Executive Board approves inquiries, investigations into alleged malpractices by organizations, individuals

ISLAMABAD Feb 12 (TNS): The Executive Board meeting of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presided by its Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal was held here Monday which approved holding several inquiries and initiating investigations into  alleged malpractices by organizations and individuals.

The Chairman NAB ordered to complete all inquiries and investigations and said that no case should be delayed for indefinite period.

The Executive Board approved to start investigation against former head Pakistan Science Foundation Islamabad ex-president Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro for alleged misuse of authority by making illegal appointments in Pakistan Science Foundation and spending money on over 20 local and foreign official tours thus causing millions of rupees loss to national kitty.

The meeting approved to start inquiry against officials of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council for more than 200 illegal appointments.

Inquiry was also approved against CDA employees and others for selling Plot 11 in Sector G-6 Civic Center Islamabad, on nominal rates.

The meeting also approved inquiry against officials of Privatization Commission of Pakistan. They violated PEPRA rules in privatization of American Fertilizer Ltd., and Daudkhail Mianwali which brought loss of around Rs.3.889 billion rupees to national kitty

It was also approved to initiate investigation into alleged malpractices against administration of NEPRA, ministry of water and power, IPPS, Mesrs Blue Star Hydel Pvt Ltd., Mesrs Bukhsh Solars Pvt Ltd., Mesrs Saif Solars Pvt Ltd., Mesrs Lucky Electric Power Company Ltd., Mesrs Sadqaa Sons Energy Ltd., They violated solar power plants tarrif due to which national kitty had to bear loss of over 200 billion rupees.

Inquiry was also approved against Dr Akram Ch VC Sargodha University for illegal appointments thus causing loss to national kitty.

The board also approved inquiry against Inspector FIA Adnan Lohani, former Senator Abdul Razaq and Chief Executive M/s Malik Exchange Private Ltd. Kamran Khan for abusing their power, taking bribe and money laundering.

Executive Board meeting also approved investigation against Talat Mehmood, Nouman Nawaz, Ijaz Ahmed, Raja Kamran and others who allegedly involved in corruption worth 3.14 million rupees.

The board asked the anti-graft watchdog to kick off inquiry against owners and developers of Al-Khair Housing Society for looting RS. 27.065 from masses.

The board also ordered inquiry into mega corruption in ‘Land Utilization Department Sindh’ which caused loss to national exchequer.

The board approved investigation against former Director General Sindh Building Control Authority Manzoor Qadir and others for changing status of Public welfare plots into commercial land which caused loss of Rs. 500 million to national kitty.

The meeting also ordered inquiry against Muhammad Mohsin and Rahila Mugsi as State Bank of Pakistan had sent the case to NAB under D-31 for suspicious transactions.

The board approved corruption investigation against Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, KASB Noor Developers Pvt Ltd. former Director/former administration BIPL and Structured Venture Pvt Ltd. who caused Rs. 375 million loss to national exchequer.

The board approved investigation against former Director General KDA Syed Nasir Abbas and others for changing status of Public welfare plots into commercial land which caused loss of Rs. 354 million to national kitty.

The board also ordered inquiry against former Chairman SPSC Muhammad Hassan Bhutto and others for abusing their powers and illegal appointments.

The board approved investigations against top officials of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan for irregularity in students’ funds which caused Rs. 1176 loss to national kitty.

The board approved investigations against administration of Jinnah Medical College Peshawar for irregularity.

Executive Board meeting also approved investigation against former Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Customs Collectorate  Peshawar, officials of Bank of Khyber Peshawar, Chairman District Council Qilla Abdullah, former Chairman Quetta Development Authority and Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab for abusing their powers, irregularities and corruption which caused loss of millions rupees to national exchequer.
