Experts demand equal rights for people of Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad, Feb. 12 (TNS): The non-governmental organization “Shaheed Bhutto Foundation” organized a national seminar on current status of Gilgit Baltistan here on Monday.

The event was organized in the National Press Club in Islamabad which was attended by the representatives of parliamentary political parties present in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Addressing the seminar, PPP leader of Gilgit-Baltistan chapter, Amjad Advocate said that there were a lot of reservations regarding Gilgit-Baltistan region but it is never a controversial region.

Amjad Advocate demanded that the recommendations agreed by committee on Gilgit-Baltistan, headed by Sartaj Aziz, should be processed.

Former ANP Senator Afrasiab Khattak, during his speech said that Gilgit-Baltistan and FATA have been facing same problem since decades and people of both regions still suffering.

He demanded that people of FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan should be given equal rights as per mainland Pakistan.

Senior journalist and TV anchorperson Saleem Safi said that people of Gilgit-Baltistan still lacking basic rights despite giving great sacrifices for the survival of Pakistan.
