NAB Chairman chairs meeting to review overall performance of Awareness and Prevention Division

Urges NAB officials to work harder than before to gain more respect for themselves and the institution

ISLAMABAD Feb 13 (TNS): In order to review the overall performance of Awareness and Prevention Division of NAB Chairman Justice (Retired) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday chaired a meeting held at NAB Headquarters.

The NAB chief pointed out that we have devised a proactive anti-corruption strategy and operational methodology by setting three stages for the proceeding of cases including complaint verification, inquiry and investigation.

Deciding that NAB would monitor all mega contracts and tenders in the government departments in order to ensure transparency in award of contracts, he asked DGs of all the public departments to deposit all the contracts having estimated cost of Rs500 million and above.

He said this step will help ensure transparency and implementation of rules and regulations of PEPRA and serve to prevent loss to national kitty.

He said under the Section 33b of the NAB Ordinance the NAB is empowered to check or monitor all development projects having estimated cost of Rs500 million and above.

During the meeting the NB chief said the Awareness and Prevention Division must focus on preventive measures along with the enforcement.

Taking notice of the public departments not having deposited all the contracts having estimated cost of Rs500 million and above, the NAB chief warned to punish them under the law.

Reviewing the performance of Awareness and Prevention Division, he said that comparative figures for the last few years reflected the hard work and dedication of NAB staff. He urged NAB officials to work harder than before to gain more respect for themselves and the institution.
