PML-N’s disgruntled Hazara region leader Omar Ayub joins PTI

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17 (TNS): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N’s) former member of the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan has parted ways with the party and joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of the general elections 2018.

Ayub formally announced to quit the PML-N in a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Bani Gala on Saturday.

Cheif Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was also there at the meeting. PTI chief welcomed the new entrant.

Ayub expressed full faith in the PTI’s manifesto and hoped that the party would get a victory in the upcoming general elections.

Omar Ayub was elected to the National Assembly from Constituency NA-19 (Haripur) as a candidate of PML (N) in the by-election held in 2014. Later, he was unseated as constituency election was invalidated by voting irregularities due to rigging.

Moreover, he is the grandson of Pakistan’s former president Ayub Khan. he has also served as the minister of state for finance from 2004 to 2007.
