ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (TNS): Mishal Malik, wife of prominent Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, Sunday expressed serious concern over deteriorating health of her husband hospitalized in Srinagar after being arrested by Indian occupied Kashmir authorities on February 6.

“Yasin Malik is a Hurriyat leader, not a terrorist. The Indian army’s brutalities have made him a living dead,” she said while addressing a news conference here along with Lord Nazir Ahmed.

Mishal Malik demanded immediate shifting of Yasin Malik abroad for emergency treatment as he had been made subject to slow-poisoning. Besides, her husband was being given meal mixed with crushed-glass, she added.

She said she and her daughter wanted to meet Yasin Malik, but India was not giving them permission.

Mishal expressed resolve to start a movement at international level for the release of Yasin Malik. Lasting peace in the region could not be achieved without resolving the Kashmir issue as per wishes of people of Kashmir, she added.

She said India launched unannounced war against Pakistan.

Lord Nazir Ahmed said India was involved in carrying out subversive activities in Pakistan, underlining the need for making the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir a more effective body.
