Islamabad, Feb 24(TNS):  Duration of load-shedding across the country might be increased, due to  scarcity of water in Mangla Dam as reservoir  has touched its dead level.

Due to increased water drought in Mangla Dam, 970 mw electricity shortfalls expected, which will increase duration of load-shedding. Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has decided to open Chasma-Jhelum link Canal, to cop with expected exceptional situation. However, Sindh opposed this decision, as Sindh has already being told by IRSA that only drinking water would be provided, providing irrigation water not possible. According to IRSA spokesperson, with increase in heat, water level would also increase, which would ultimately increase power generation.
