Islamabad Feb 26 (TNS): Anti-terrorism court judges Kausar Abbas and Shahrukh Arjumand exempted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan from appearing for hearing in PTV and Parliament attack cases filed against him during the 2014 sit-in.
The ATC also intimated the prosecution about the exemption through a notice before the hearing was adjourned till March 13.
Imran reached the court an hour late as soon as the hearing resumed while Shahid Gondal represented him after the court took up the case.
Talking to the media outside the court, Imran alleged that both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif were busy in mincing money through illegal means and the one was caught in the Panama Papers case while the other had been caught by a Chinese regulatory body.
He said that Capital Engineering chief Faisal Subhan, who had been the contract of Multan metro bus project, has confessed to the Chinese regulatory probing corruption charges that Shahbaz and his family members had received heavy kickbacks in the project.
Khan said that Shahbaz has spent billions of rupees through his blue-eyed bureaucrats like Ahad Cheema. He said that this mafia should be stopped from looting the public money and the sum should be spent on health, education and clean drinking water projects.
Leaders of the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek were booked by the Islamabad police after they along with their party supporters stormed the PTV and Parliament buildings and ransacked them during the 2014 sit-in staged against the Lahore Model Town incident and alleged rigging in the 2013 general election.
The protesters had also thrashed and beat former Islamabad SSP Asmatullah Junejo when he along with a contingent of police tried to stop them from advancing and attacking the buildings on the Constitution Avenue.
