Ashfak Jumani tipped as PEMRA chief

Islamabad March 1 (TNS): Ashfak Jumani, who was appointed as an executive member of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority a day earlier by the federal government, was appointed as chairman of the regulatory body on Thursday, sources exclusively told TNS.

The sources said that a notification in this regard would soon be issued later in the day. After former PEMRA chief Absar Alam was removed by the Islamabad High Court, the top slot was vacant and it was being run on an ad-hoc basis.

According to the sources, Jumani will take charge of the office as soon as the notification regarding his appointment as PEMRA chief was issued later in the day.
