Islamabad, March 1 (TNS): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formally cancelled the registration of Move on Pakistan party led by Muhammad Kamran.

Under the Election Act 2017, the party failed to submit a list of at least 2,000 members with their signatures and identity cards and an enlistment fee of Rs200,000. The commission announced its verdict on February 22 to delist the party and notification were issued on Thursday.

The little-known party came to the limelight in July 2016 when it put up banners and posters in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other cities of Pakistan, urging the then army chief Gen (retd) Taheel Sharif to take over and impose a martial law. Kamran was later arrested by Aabpara police, and later he was given a protective bail by a local court.
