Islamabad police involved ‘Moazin’ of a local mosque in fake robbery case

Islamabad, March 2 (TNS): The investigation officer of Rawat police station with the nexus of plaza owner involved a ‘Moazin’, (prayer caller) of a local Mosque, in a false robbery case.

‘Moazin’, Muhammad Shakeel Abbasi, had been detained illegally for 23 days while the police officer also received Rs 0.5 million as bribe from Shakil’s family.

Ibrahim, Shakil’s brother, told TNS that Shakil runs a garment business at Al-Raza Plaza in Rawalpindi where he performed as ‘Moazin’ (prayer caller) in nearby mosque.

He said the owner of plaza involved Shakil in a fake robbery case with nexus of investigation officer of Rawat police station.

He said Sub-Inspector Rana Muhammad Akabar with five other officials arrested his brother from his shop and shifted to Rawat police station where he had been detained illegally for 23 days, meanwhile the police officers demanded bribe from his family.

After receiving Rs 0.5 million amount from his family Shakil was shifted to Adiala jail.

Meanwhile, police with help of plaza owner unlocked Shakil’s shop and took away garment goods worth Rs 4.7 million on three vehicles.

The police illegally gave possession of Shakil’s shop to owner of the plaza.

Ibrahim demanded Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister and Chief Justice of Pakisatn to take notice of this injustice and to bring the culprits to book.

When TNS contacted Sub-Inspector Rana Muhammad Akabar to know his point of view, he told TNS that this was matter of robbery worth 3.5 million rupees and they have recovered 2.5 million rupees from perpetrators.

He denied taking Rs 0.5 million bribe claiming that this amount was recovered during search process.

The officer further added that Shakil Abbasi bought the pistols for the accused involved in robbery.
