MQM-P factions reunite a day before Senate polls

Islamabad, March 1 (TNS): Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui groups of Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan on Friday announced a reunion to contest Senate polls under one umbrella.

Sattar and Siddiqui, during a joint news conference, said that both factions agreed upon names of 5 candidates who will contest Senate polls under MQM-P banner.

Name of Kamran Tessori included in the list of five candidates the two groups finalized.

Tessori was the main reason of split in MQM-P.

Barrister Farogh Naseem, Abdul Qadir Khanzada, Dr Nighat Shakeel and Sanjay Perwani will also contest polls under MQM-P umbrella.

Earlier, in a major development, Election Commission of Pakistan rejected petitions of Bahadurabad group of MQM filed against Sattar.

The group had sought an interim relief from ECP.
