Ex-CDA chief held on corruption charges

Islamabad March 6 (TNS): The National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday arrested ex-chairman of the Capital Development Authority Imtiaz Inayat Elahi and former member finance Saeedur Rehman on corruption charges and misuse of authority.

NAB sources told TNS that the two former bureaucrats were taken into custody for misusing powers during the construction of Shakarparian Complex Islamabad during Elahi’s tenure from June 2009 to December 2011. Ilahi also served as secretary CADD, additional secretary environmental ministry, and the deputy commissioner Islamabad twice.

He had served as a commercial counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
