Islamabad March 6 (TNS): President Mamnoon Hussain said on Tuesday that Pakistan had emerged as the best destination for investment due to improved peace and the business-friendly policies of the government.
Addressing a gathering of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad, Hussain said Pakistan has enacted legislation to facilitate domestic and international investors.
He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will usher in a new era of economic development and prosperity in Pakistan and in the region at large. He urged the neighbouring countries to join the multi-billion dollars CPEC project.
The president said that country’s exports have seen an upward trajectory in the recent past with over 11 percent growth. Hussain said that the GDP has seen the all-time high growth of five percent, which was the highest in the last 10 years. He said that investment could be made in services, tourism and energy sectors.
He said that strict counter-terrorism measures and ongoing operations have also contributed to Pakistan’s economic growth.
