Quetta March 7 (TNS): At least one policeman was killed and another injured when a police vehicle came under fire from unidentified assailants in the Shalkot area on Wednesday morning.
The identity of the slain cop and the injured could not be ascertained immediately. The slain and the injured policemen were shifted to Balochistan Medical Complex for medico-legal formalities and treatment.
Soon after the incident, security forces cordoned off the crime scene by diverting traffic to other routes. Balochistan DIG Abdur Razzaq Cheema later visited the crime scene and took a briefing on the overall security situation.
Attacks on security forces in Quetta and other parts of the province is a common occurrence as the volatile province is struggling to deal with the militants, who have launched an insurgency attacking security forces.
On February 28, two policemen were killed when the vehicle of DSP Hameedullah Dasti came under attack on Samungli Road.
