Pakistan summons envoy from New Delhi over harassment issue

Islamabad March 15 (TNS): Pakistan has called its envoy from New Delhi to discuss the alleged harassment of diplomats and their family members in India.

The development comes after reports surfaced that vehicles of Pakistani diplomats were chased and damaged by unidentified persons a few days back as part of a systemic campaign aimed at minorities and diplomats of countries India considers inimical.

Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal, speaking at a weekly briefing here on Thursday, said that Pakistan High Commissioner to New Delhi, Sohail Mehmood, has been summoned for consultation over the issue and for thrashing out a future strategy to tackle such incidents.

The federal government has summoned its high commissioner in New Delhi, Sohail Mahmood, for consultation, the Foreign Office (FO) stated on Thursday.
