Islamabad/Sharjah, March 16 (TNS): Peshawar Zalmi will go head-on against Lahore Qalandars in the Sharjah cricket stadium on Friday in the hope to qualify for the top four spots in the PSL standings.

For , Peshawar Zalmi sit in 5th place with eight points, 1 point adrift from Multan Sultans (9 points).Whereas, Karachi is for now at third place with 9 points, in the PSL table.

It’s a “do or die” game for Zalmi. A win today will mean they will progress for the play-off stages. Either Multan Sultans or Karachi Kings will be eliminated.

On the other hand if Peshawar suffers defeat against Lahore Qalandars they will become the first Defending champions to be eliminated at group stages.

Karachi is also in peril of elimination as they face Islamabad United, who are in red hot form at the moment as they are currently relishing a 6 game winning streak.

Any loss to Karachi more than 16 runs will mean that Karachi will bow out of PSL this season without playing the playoffs.

Or if Islamabad chases the target against them in more than 2 overs remaining, Kings will have to face the consequences and suffer elimination.

Due to a better run-rate Zalmi have a greater chance to qualify, Zalmi have a (+0.399) run-rate. While Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans have (-0.118) and (-0.191) run-rate respectively.

In spite of the tense scenario of the qualification fight, Darren Sammy seemed to be in a light mood at the toss against Karachi yesterday and stated: his men in yellow will try their level best to qualify for the play-offs and travel again to Pakistan and give the people of Pakistan and (KPK) joy again.”
