Islamabad March 17 (TNS): The Excise and Taxation Department has widened its crackdown on vehicles having tainted and illegal number plates.
The drive has picked up the pace after the interior minister has issued orders to confiscate vehicles having illegal number plates.
The raiding team led by ETO Nisar Hanjra and Tariq Chaudhry removed illegal number plates from around 200 vehicles and so far illegal number plates had been removed from 600 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the FIR Rawalpindi circle raided a motorcycles’ showroom in Rawalpindi and seized 133 illegal passports.
The raiding team arrested the showroom owner on charges of illegally sending people to Europe on fake passports.
A case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway.
