Pakistan Day parade underway in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD March 23 (TNS): A joint military parade is underway in Islamabad to mark the Pakistan Day. Contingents of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force have been participating in the parade while state-of-the-art missiles, gunship helicopters, tanks and other equipment and ammunition have been rolled out to be witnessed by high dignitaries and foreign guests.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Defence Minister Khurran Dastgir, all three services chiefs and other dignitaries are also witnessing the parade.

Troops marched past while the fighter jets presented a fly-past. Floats depicting the culture of different regions was also displayed on the occasion.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Yapa Sirisena is participating at the event as a special guest while delegations from Turkey, Malaysia, UAE, Saudi Arabia and China are also witnessing the parade.

The 78th Pakistan Day is being celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour to mark Lahore resolution demanding a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia in 1947.
