Nankana Sahib March 24 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday minced no words in saying that the newly elected Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani grabbed the coveted seat after bribing senators.
“It is embarrassing that the Senate chairman was elected on bribed votes. The Senate is the face of the federation but the recent elections have bloated its face. The Senate chairman was planted on the coveted post by the opposition parties after they bribed the senators. I ask the opposition parties to sit with the ruling party to reelect a consensus chairman. The current chairman is bloated,” he said while addressing a gathering at Nankana Sahib, where the premier inaugurated several development projects.
The prime minister said that the PML-N government served the masses and established the sanctity of the parliament but the opposition parties set an awful precedence by maneuvering with the recently held Senate elections.
He said that the Upper House of the Parliament was the face of the federation but the recently held elections have badly damaged its reputation.
