Islamabad March 26 (TNS): The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday removed Dr Farooq Sattar as convener of the party which has further split into two groups.
The five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Ahmed on Monday announced a brief verdict which said that Dr Sattar could no more lead the party.
The verdict comes after the Bahadurabad Group led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui moved the ECP challenging the intra-party elections conducted by Dr Sattar, declaring himself as the convener of the party.
Dr Sattar had challenged the jurisdiction of the ECP contending that the poll body could not intervene in the internal matters of the party.
