Islamabad March 27 (TNS): Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director Wajid Zia while recording his statement as a prosecution witness in the Avenfield case testified before the trial court on Tuesday that the London flats were owned by Hussain Nawaz.
Zia, who headed the joint investigation team that probed the Panama Papers case against the Sharif family, told the trial court that Hussain Nawaz remained the owner of the Avenfiled flats from 1993 to 1996. When Maryam Nawaz’s counsel Amjad Pervez objected to the claim, Zia said that Hussain Nawaz also testified before the JIT and the fact cannot be disputed.
Zia also said that the documents submitted to the JIT by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s children were bogus. The former premier, his daughter and the son-in-law were allowed to leave the court while the recording of the prosecution witnesses is underway.
