US needs to look at Pakistan through lens of mutual respect: ISPR chief

Islamabad March 28 (TNS): Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor has called upon world powers especially the United States to acknowledge Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war on terror and its overall contributions to the world at large.

Addressing a press conference at the GHQ Rawalpindi, the ISPR DG said that despite Pakistan’s huge contributions and sacrifices, the world powers were not fully forthcoming in recognizing its sacrifices.

He said that the US needs to see things through the lens mutual respect.

He said that there was no stalemate with the US and talks were underway to sort out the possible lacunas. He said that Pakistan will do everything to safeguard its interests while keeping its relations with the superpower.

India creating instability in Pakistan, which is counter-productive, he said adding that Pakistan’s overtures to the neighbouring should not be misconstrued as its weakness.

He said that Pakistan invited Indian diplomats to witness the Pakistan Day event while the neighbouring country was harassing our diplomats, which was against the international norm of diplomacy. He said that Pakistan was united as a nation to counter any possible threat or aggression and any misadventure will be met with full force.

He ruled out that army was facilitating an NRO to give a safe way to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family to leave the country. He said all the hullabaloo about the NRO was nothing but hearsay.

He also said that the army chief wants a complete peace in every nook and corner of the country.

At the beginning of the presser, he hailed the security forces, police and the government administrations over the successful PSL final, which he was a big challenge and it ended peacefully.
