Islamabad March 29 (TNS): United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alice Wells held a meeting with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua here at the Foreign Office on Thursday.
During the meeting, both the senior officials exchanged views on different aspects of bilateral relations and the regional situation with a special focus on Afghanistan.
Wells’ visit comes after the White House hinted that it could permanently sever its military aid to Pakistan besides doing away with the status of the non-NATO ally.
Pakistan and the US have long been engaged in hate and love affair as both the countries come closer before they take extreme positions on several issues especially the war on terror. Pakistan insists that it has taken concrete to eliminate terrorism from its soil while the US demands that it take action against all groups including the Haqqani network. Pakistan strongly denies providing any support to the Haqqani network and it has launched an operation against terrorists of all hue and colour and it has turned the table against the terrorists.
