Muzaffarabad, March 29 (TNS): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan said that the institution of Ombudsman plays a vital role in ensuring relief to the public and providing instant justice to the complainants, says a press release issued by AJK government here on Thursday.
The President made these remarks during a call on by Honourable Ombudsman AJK Mirza Zafar Hussain. During the meeting, Ombudsman AJK also presented the President with the Annual Report, 2017.
Briefing the President on the performance of the Ombudsman’s Office, the Honourable Ombudsman informed that a large number of complainants have been given prompt relief in numerous cases. Speaking on the performance of the Ombudsman’s office, he said, the office has received numerous letters of appreciation from complainants who had been provided relief, which he said have also been included in the Annual Report.
Ombudsman AJK proposed opening new offices at the divisional headquarters of Poonch and Mirpur due to the growing number of complainants and excessive load faced by the office. Welcoming the proposal, the President appreciated the commitment and dedication shown by the Ombudsman in serving the masses.
Being a part of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman (FPO), the Honourable Ombudsman also informed that the next annual meeting of FPO will be held in Muzaffarabad and the AJK Ombudsman Office will have the honour of hosting the event.
The President commended the Ombudsman on their outstanding performance and for presenting the Annual Report 2017 on time. He expressed the hope that the Ombudsman’s Office will continue to selflessly serve the people of AJK providing them easy and free access to justice.
