Islamabad April 2 (TNS): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that he was ousted from the office by a five-member bench of the Supreme Court on an ‘imaginary’ salary and iqama but “the so-called joint investigation team chief Wajid Zia failed to prove anything in the court today”.

Talking to the media after appearing before the trial court along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz in the Gulf Steel Mills case, the former premier claimed that certain p were bent on penalizing him despite the fact that the JIT chief badly failed to fight his case during the cross-examination.

He said that the lies were coming out one by one and the nation will soon come to know about the reality

Meanwhile, Zia was cross-examined by Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris.

During the cross-examination, Zia told the trial court that the JIT’s probe was limited to the scope of documents regarding the Gulf Stell Mills. He said that they wrote to the UAE authorities to independently verify the documents but the JIT got no response from them.
