Lahore April 3 (TNS): A NAB court on Tuesday extended the physical remand of former LDA chief Ahad Cheema in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case for 14 days. Shahid Shafique and two other accused were also handed over to the NAB on a 14-day physical remand after the anti-graft body officials sought extension in the remand.
Cheema is facing a Rs14 billion scam involving a deal between the Paragon Society and the Punjab Land Development Company in the award of contract of the Ashiana Housing Society.
The NAB prosecutor also said during the hearing that Cheema had links with Nadeem Zia, who is the chairman of Paragon Society, but he has not showed up despite repeated summons.
The NAB official further told the court that the encrypted data found from the laptop of Cheema contains serious evidence against Cheema and it will take time to be re-encrypted.
Meanwhile, Cheema’s plea against his NAB custody was dismissed by the Lahore High Court.
