Islamabad April 6 (TNS): Pakistan People’s Party’s senator Rehman Malik said on Friday that the new amnesty scheme will encourage money-laundering and whitening of the property purchased with black money.

In a press statement, Malik said that the government wants to whiten the black money which has illegally been stashed in foreign banks and financial institutions by offering the tax waiver, which will lead to further money-laundering.

Malik demanded a probe into such a scheme the Pakistan Muslim League government offered in 1996, allowing the Sharif family to launder money broad. The National Accountability Bureau should investigate the matter, he said.

He claimed that several scandals involving the United Bank, the Muslim Commercial Bank, Mian Mansha and the Sharif family will surface in the future.
