Multan, April 9 (TNS): Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Monday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were no more relevant in Pakistani politics and now their duel was with the ‘PML-Sheen’ and the  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, both of which he termed regressive and backward.

Addressing a press conference after visiting various areas in Multan as part of the membership drive of the party, Bilawal claimed that the PPP was the only hope of the marginalized people of the country and his party was striving to improve a lot of the downtrodden section of the society.

“The PML-N is finished and Nawaz Sharif has no future in Pakistani politics and now the PML-Sheen (Shahbaz) is the field against whom will compete in the upcoming elections,” the PPP chairman said in reference to Shahbaz Sharif, who was elected the president of the PML-N after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was declared ineligible by the Supreme Court to lead the party.

He said that like his party, other political forces and parties focus on the most neglected South Punjab to bring it at part with Lahore and other cities of Punjab.

The PPP chairman said that the media does not point out the revolution PPP has brought in the development of southern Punjab. Southern Punjab has not been given its basic rights by the PML-n-led provincial government.

He said that the PPP always practiced politics of principles and has always strived to work for the people.

Bilawal said that the PML-N has failed to end load shedding in the last five years and wherever he goes, people complain to him about power cuts. “Load shedding has been ended only in Raiwand and not in Pakistan,” the PPP leader said adding the PML-N’s claim of ending power cuts proved a hollow slogan.

Bilawal said that the PML-N has no achievements to it’s in Punjab except for constructed costly metro buses and that too in a few cities. Bilawal also said that the PPP laid the foundation to make Pakistan an atomic power and had a strong role in materializing the CPEC project

The PPP leader said that accountability should be transparent for and across the board and his party was planning to bring a new accountability law after coming to power. He said that the ongoing accountability of the Sharif family was “VIP accountability”.

The PPP leader claimed that 0.6 million women in Sindh have been brought above the line of poverty and in the sector of health maternal mortality rate reduced to 50%.

Bilawal suggested that they want an impartial staff in the Election Commission of Pakistan for transparency in the upcoming general elections
