Islamabad April 11 (TNS): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif questioned on Wednesday why persons from the Inter-Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence were included in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that probed the Panama Papers scandal against him and his family.

“Was I a terrorist or the case against me was related to terrorism? Why the ISI and the MI personnel were included in the JIT. Of the six members of the JIT, three were those who, in one way or the other, were related to our political opponent party, the PTI,” he said while talking to the media outside the trial court.

He also said that the whole nation knows how the trial and investigation was started with a WhatsApp call. “The reality of the so-called JIT and its investigation is coming to the naught with each passing day. There is nothing concrete against us to prove.

The JIT investigation is nothing but a pack of lies.

JIT chief Wajid Zia will have to answer for all this silliness. The nation will hold him accountable and he cannot escape,” the former premier said adding that certain forces were bent on punishing him, but he will fight back.

He said that Wajid Zia also testified that he did have proof that he (Nawaz) salary from the company. “The reality of the JIT’s probe is unfolding and everything is becoming crystal clear that it was nothing but a concocted and fabricated and it aimed to corner me,” he said.
