Islamabad April 11 (TNS): Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday told the National Assembly that US Defence and Air Attaché Joseph Emanuel Hall, who had killed a motorcycle and injured another, was still in the country and the law will take its course.
The statement comes after reports emerged that the US official has the diplomatic immunity and he could not be harangued under Pakistan laws.
He said that the police were already seized with the investigation and the case will be adjudicated according to the law of the land.
Mir Ateeq and his cousin were killed on the road over the weekend when the vehicle of the US official rammed into their motorcycle at a road signal. According to some sources, Joseph was drunk while he was driving and he broke the traffic signal and hit the motorcyclists, killing one and injuring the other. The Kohsar police have registered a case against the US diplomatic official.
