Australia, April 14 (TNS): Pakistan finally managed to win a game in the commonwealth games after four straight draws on Friday as they overcame Canada by 3-1 on Friday.
After drawing games against Wales (1-1), India (2-2), England (2-2) and Malaysia (1-1) the green shirts finally emerged victorious.
The green shirts came from behind to triumph Canada as the opposition took the lead in 12th minute and kept their lead intact until half time.
However, in the second half Pakistan played with more vigour and through Arslan Qadir they managed to draw level.
In the 40th minute, the Pakistan outfit secured the lead after converting a penalty corner in the 40th-minute courtesy Mubashir Ali who finished as the top-scorer for Pakistan in the tournament.
In the last quarter with three minutes remaining M.Irfan Sr scored a terrific goal to make his side finish on a high note in the tournament.
Pakistan skipper M.Rizwan Sr said that their performance was not upto the mark in the whole tournament. “We didn’t play well in the tournament and it took us a lot of time to get the momentum right. We should have won some of the matches instead of drawing them, “The coach is also not happy but we have learned a lot from the matches, but as I said that we were not able to score many goals.
