Islamabad April 14 (TNS): A counsel representing the father of the late Atique Baig, who was killed by US Defence and Air Attaché Joseph Emanuel Hall on road some days back, on Saturday told the sessions court that the Islamabad police were dilly-dallying the investigation while the killer was still at large.
Raja Zahurul Hassan representing the victim’s family told the court that the police should inform the court and the family if they have taken any action against the US official, who was let free after a brief detention.
Additional Sessions judge Muhammad Sohail heard the case. The victim family’s counsel told the court that the US official was drunk when he was driving the car but the police did not conduct his medical test. He also argued that the police also did not record statements of the eye-witnesses.
The US diplomat’s Land cruiser had hit a motorcycle riders on Margalla road a few days back, which had resulted in the death of Atique while his Raheel suffered serious injuries. Raheel is still in critical condition in hospital.
The father of the victim has already requested the Islamabad High Court to issue directives to the government to put the name of Joseph on the exit control list.
After the arguments, the hearing was put off till April 18.
