QAI Hospital doctor, staff booked over death of patient

Islamabad April 18 (TNA): The Shams Colony police have booked a senior doctor and other staff of Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital Islamabad over the death of a youth in the hospital due to the alleged negligence.

Bilal, a resident of Fateh Jan, was brought to the hospital in critical condition and the hospital staff admitted him to HDU ward and called Dr Talha Waqar, a specialist in the hospital, to reach the hospital to attend to the patient.

According to the FIR, Dr Awaq, instead of showing up at the hospital, gave instruction to the junior staff on the phone to give treatment to the patient. According to the FIR, the hospital staff did not budge an inch when they were requested to arrange a senior doctor to attend to the patient, who breathed his while waiting for proper treatment.

Tariq Mehmood, the father of the deceased, had approached the police to lodge an FIR against the Dr Waqar and other staffers but the police showed reluctance.

Finally, Mehmood approached the sessions judge Syed Faizan Haider, who ordered to register the FIR against the doctor and other hospital staff.
