KARACHI, April 19 (TNS): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday accused the federal government of power outages in Sindh province and said that he was ready to stage a sit-in outside the Prime Minister House if other political parties joined him to protest the electricity woes in his province.
Addressing a press conference at the Sindh Assembly on Thursday, he said that nothing could be achieved from staging protests at the Chief Minister’s House instead all political parties should join him to stage a protest at the PM House in Islamabad.
“I talked to the prime minister six times on the phone and sent two letters to him over the unannounced power cuts across the province including Karachi,” he said.
He said that various towns and cities in the province have been experiencing 14 to 24-hours power cuts.
Shah said that the federal government was depriving Karachi of electricity as PML-N did not get votes from the city.
“Industrialists of the city are forced to shut down the factories due to the excess load shedding,” he said adding that the Sui Southern Gas Company is bound to provide gas to the K-Electric and more than 500-megawatts of electricity producing units are shut over non-supply of gas. Over non-payment of dues issue between the KE and the SSGC, Murad said that they should resolve the issues among themselves rather than creating problems for Karcahiites.
