Washington, May 9 (TNS):  The United States Congressional Committee proposed to give Pakistan only the half amount from the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) and has planned to invest the rest of the funds in the fight to dismantle the Haqqani Network.

House Armed Services committee has taken the decision that they will not sanction the $350 million amounts, out of the total of $700 for financial assistance to the country unless the defence secretary convinces the Congress that Pakistan has taken actions against the network.

According to the National Defence Authorization Bill, the committee has allotted approximately $700million in the CSF to Pakistan.

The proposal of the committed is based on the fact that half the amount from the total fund allotted will be cut off if Pakistani government does not certify the United States, that Haqqani Network issue has been addressed.

The stance of the committee of the U.S administration has a rigid stance that Pakistan is not taking any actions against the terrorist network and will look to pressurize Pakistan by putting restrictions on the funds of aid.

Pakistan has always vowed to continue its fight against terrorism along with the U.S, but recently under the Trump administration, the U.S has put allegations on Pakistan that they are providing sanctuaries to terrorist networks and need to up their efforts to combat terrorism in South Asia.
