Islamabad Police performs rehearsal to meet any kind of emergency situation

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (TNS): Islamabad Police on Wednesday performed rehearsal to meet any kind of emergency situation through SOS call. The officials from Bomb Disposal Squad, Police Commandos, Rescue 15, Operation Division, Logistic Division, Traffic Division, Pak Army, Rangers, other law enforcement agencies, National Forensic Science Agency (NFSA), CDA Fire Brigade and ambulances participated in the rehearsal.

According to details, Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) Sultan Azam Temuri has prepared a comprehensive SOP. According SOP, a fake call was made that some terrorists entered in National Library and bomb explosion had occurred.

The senior officers of Police including Inspector General of police Sultan Azam Temuri, DIG (Operations) Waqar Ahmed Chohan and officials from Pak Army, Pak Rangers and other law enforcement agencies, NFSA and all police wings reached the spot within timeframe described in SOP.

They cordoned off the area and initiated search operation. All the wings reached on the spot and took their positions within approach time. High alert was made in the entire district after this call.

The checking was enhanced at all entry and exit points of the city and emergency was imposed in all hospitals of districts. A Media corner was established on the spot to give the actual version of the police.

Police officers were not aware before that the call is fake and it was just for rehearsal purpose. After rehearsal the IGP Islamabad Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri in briefing said that such rehearsal was essential to prepare for emergency situation and to ensure security in the federal capital.

He appreciated all the wings approach time, adding that Police commandos performed well. IGP Islamabad appreciated the Islamabad Police and other officers reaching the spot within approach time and said that flaws in the plan should overcome.
