Lahore, May 10 (TNS): The Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded a thorough probe into the attack on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday by an assailant during a political gathering in Narowal.
The chairperson of PPP paid a visit to Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday and inquired about his health, whereas, the interior minister is recovering from his wounds at Lahore’s Services Hospital.
Bilawal called for a detailed investigation into the assassination attempt and condemned the attack while addressing the media outside the hospital.
“The Ahsan Iqbal incident is highly condemnable and should not happen be it government or opposition, we all need to unite against politics of hate so that we can fight extremism,” said Bilawal.
“We have been condemning such attacks since day one. “All our opponents are humans first and then politicians, such attacks should not take place,” he said. “We all should come together against politics of hatred, be it lawmakers in the treasury benches or in the opposition.”
The PPP leader also condemned the release of “terrorists” who were allegedly involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
“We had submitted a request when the five terrorists were arrested,” Bilawal said. “Even DNA tests carried out at a laboratory abroad proved their involvement in the assassination, despite that bail was granted.”
The PPP leader said, the release of the terrorists made no sense especially when all the evidence was against them.
He also talked about the clashes that broke out between workers of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf and PPP in Karachi.
