Paris, May 12 (TNS):  Football’s most decorated right-back and Brazillian Dani Alves is set to miss out on the 2018 world cup in Russia due to a knee injury scare.

The 35-year-old Paris Saint Germain star suffered a knee injury in their 2-0 win against Les Herbiers in the French Cup final and was taken off the pitch in the 86th minute.

PSG manager Unai Emery sympathized with the player and stated, “The doctors have studied what is best for Dani Alves. I am really sorry for him”

The former Barcelona and Juventus star has bagged 38 trophies in his 17-year-old world cup and this would have been his last world cup for Brazil.

Meanwhile, Brazillian living legend Pelle took to Twitter and also sympathized with Alves, as he wrote “I am so sad to hear this. Footballers hate missing games but I know first-hand that missing #WorldCup games is the worst feeling.”

Brazillian coach Tite now faces a headache in the right back position as he does not have a natural replacement for Alves who is good enough to fill his boots.

Manchester City’s Danilon is the only option who can fill that position but in recent times his performances have been below par.

Brazil are also sweating on whether PSG star Neymar Jr. will be fit for the world cup or not, as he finds himself in a race against time to make the world cup squad to be announced on Monday.

The world most expensive player has not played for his club sinceMarchh and the Brazil team management will be hoping to get Neymar match- fit before the training camp in Brazil on 21st May.
