Karachi, May 12 (TNS): Former Senior Superintendent Police Rao Anwar, who allegedly ordered the extrajudicial murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud, a youngster who hailed from Waziristan, filed an application in the Anti-Terrorism Court seeking a bail plea pertaining to the case.

Anwar was arrested earlier, along with 10 of his subordinates on the charges of abducting and killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in a fake encounter along with three other captives on January 13.

The prosecution party have been issued a notice to respond to the bail plea of the suspended SSP Rao Anwar.

After the Supreme Court took notice of the case, Rao Anwar surrendered himself to the apex court and was eventually sent to a court trial in Karachi, after warrants were issued against him.

The family members of the youngster alleged that Naqeebullah was killed in a fake encounter after the abduction of nearly 10 days.

Following the first complaint registered by Naqeebullah’s Father, 10 days after his encounter, a three-member inquiry committee probed the allegations and declared the encounter pre-planned and recommended immediate action against the Malir SSP and his subordinates.
