KU organizes Seminar on youth engagement for peace building and national integration

ISLAMABAD, May 15 (TNS): FATA University Kohat on Monday organized a one day national seminar on youth engagement for peace building and national integration in light of Paigham-e-Pakistan.

The aim of the event was to promote peace, harmony and reconciliation among FATA youth. Ulemas from Kohat, Hangu, Darra Adam Khel and Khyber were also presented in the seminar despite vacations in Maddaris, said a press release received here.

Other aim of the seminar was to promote participation of youth in decision making and to protect them from anti-state propaganda by their counseling for socioeconomic empowerment and engaging youth for countering violent extremism.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of the Kohat University Professor Dr Muhammad Tahir Shah said tribal youth was talented and their talent must be used for bringing positive change in in tribal society and to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

He said the establishment of universities in tribal areas was a prove of restoration of peace in these areas, which will start new process of development in these areas and bring positive change in tribal youth.

Speaking on the occasion Director General Islamic Research Institute Dr Zia Ul Haq said Paigham e pakistan narrative was introduced after the consultation of 1,800 Ulemas, which was aiming at to make the country peaceful for coming generations.

Addressing the event Dr Aftab Ahmad said tribal people had given great sacrifices for the restoration of peace and to defeat the terrorism. Among others District Khateeb Kohat Mufti Shafiullah, President Chambers of Commerce Faiz Shah, Pir of Gamgol Shareef Pir Obaidullah Shah, Deputy Commissioner FR Kohat Khalid, VC KUST University Nasim Achakzai spoke on the occasion.
