Lahore, May 17 (TNS): In connection with Nawaz’s controversial statements on Mumbai attacks, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected petitions submitted by opposition parties to initiate treason proceedings against Quaid of Pakistan Muslim League (N).
Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf and Pakistani Awami Tehrik have filed the petition which was dismissed by the Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza.
During the hearing on Thursday, Justice Mirza declared them unmaintainable and advised the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum.
A petition was submitted in the LHC on May 14, to register a treason case against former Prime Minister following his statements on 2008 attacks in financial capital of India.
Apart from Nawaz Sharif, Ahsan Iqbal was also mentioned as a respondent in the petition.
