Islamabad, May 25 (TNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly asked assurance on affidavits from applicants for allocation for party tickets that they will not leave the party if not given tickets.
All those who have been put their names forward for party tickets for contesting in general elections to the national and provincial assemblies have been asked to give assurance that they will stay loyal after the allocation of tickets by the party and will not dismiss the party decision.
Party has taken the decision that it will take written assurances on stamp paper, along with their affidavits according to reports.
A party leader said on the matter that, party was divided in to three or four groups on the matter of ticket allotments that is, why written assurances can be useful in the long term.
“We submitted the affidavit to the party along with Rs50,000 fee for a provincial assembly ticket and Rs100,000 for a ticket for the National Assembly,” he said.
“A former office-bearer of PTI Punjab north is running a separate campaign through his supporters in the cantonment areas against party leaders as he was refused a ticket.”
In North Punjab, the party conducted interviews of more than 382 aspiring candidates for the national and provincial assemblies.
17 candidates appeared from Sargodha’s constituency for National Assemblyand 52 appeared in the interview for provincial assembly seats.
Around 30 hopefuls have applied for the NA seat in Rawalpindi, whereas 141 applications were submitted by candidates for Punjab Assembly.
13 women have applied for party tickets in North Punjab.
To conduct the interviews of the candidates on merit PTI formed a five member committee. The committee is led by PTI Punjab north President Amir Kiani.
The interviewing committee will send its final report to the parliamentary board pertaining to information of candiates, their loyalty towards party and also past allegations against the candidates joining from another party.
PTI cheif Imran Khan and the parliamentary board would take the final decision for ticket allotments, said the leader.
382 candidates had applied for the PTI tickets in eight districts in Punjab north from Khushab to Attock, including Rawalpindi.
Candidates in three constituencies of Islamabad will be finalized soon after Punjab ticket allotments are finalized and assurances are done.
